Walleye Fishing in Illinois

Robin Hood Woods Resort & Campground Shelbyville Lake, which is the best Walleye fishing lake in Illinois, was built by the Army Core of Engineers and thus has no resorts or cottages on the lake. Robin Hood Woods is just a couple of miles from the lake and the closest resort. There are tons of Walleyes in Shelbyville Lake as it is stocked heavily every few years. There are native populations as well. You can catch 20 Walleye per day or more but generally all of them will be good eating size. Walleye have not been in the lake long enough for there to be many big ones but from time to time people do get 10 pounders. Robin Hood Woods offers housekeeping cottages and a very large fully-serviced campground for RVs and tents as well as large drive-through sites for large RVs and 5th Wheels. Lake Shelbyville also has Musky, Largemouth Bass, Smallmouth Bass, White Bass, Smallmouth Bass, Crappie and gigantic Flathead Catfish.
