Walleye Fishing near Armstrong Ontario

Auld Reekie Lodge & Outfitters is located 3 hours north of North Bay near the town of Gowganda and located on Gowganda Lake. Giant Trophy Walleyes is their claim to fame. There is a string of lakes starting with Gowganda Lake and this string heads down through Lady Evelyn-Smoothwater Provincial Park and down all the way to Cedar Lake in Algonquin Park, which is the headwater for the Petawawa River. In these lakes the average size Walleye is 4 pounds with Walleyes in the 5 to 7 pound range being caught every day. The Walleye fishing in their main lake is quality, not quantity. You may only catch 10 to 15 Walleyes per day but your chances of catching a Walleye in the 8 to 13 pound range is outstanding. If you want quantity, they have boat caches on backcountry lakes where you can catch 100 Walleyes in a day. This is tons of fun but don't expect to catch any Walleyes over 5 pounds on these portage lakes, even though there have been 8 and 9 pounders. They have beautiful lakefront cottages along with a main lodge restaurant and British Pub style bar. They offer American Plan, European Plan and housekeeping plan.
