Walleye Fishing withing a 6-hour drive of Southern Ontario / Toronto

With the Canadian/US border being closed the lodges listed below are taking bookings from Canadian guests at this time. The camps listed are all 2 to 8 hour's drive from the Golden Horseshoe.

Garden Island Lodge is a remote lodge on Lady Evelyn Lake and only accessible by floatplane or boat. Lady Evelyn Lake is one of the top Walleye lakes in Ontario for both size and numbers. No other lake in Ontario produces as many Walleyes over 30 inches with massive Walleyes as big as 18 pounds being caught and released. They are the only lodge located in the southern section of the lake, which just happens to be where the best fishing is. You also have access to go through the narrows on the way to Willow lake where you can catchs hoards of good eating size walleyes in the two-pound range. Northern Pike and Smallmouth Bass are also available but Walleyes are the dominant species. They offer both American Plan and housekeeping accommodations.

Moose Horn Lodge has great Walleye fishing and they have the pictures to prove it. You can fish McLennan Lake for Walleyes, which is where the lodge is located or you can drive to many other area lakes, streams and the Chapleau River where there is exceptional Walleye fishing. They offer new housekeeping cottages and a new main lodge. This is a really beautiful lodge and extremely comfortable for people of all ages. They also have fishing for Northern Pike and Smallmouth Bass. Just a short distance from the lodge is a beautiful stream full of Brook Trout.

Shooting Star Camp is located north of Lake Huron in Ontario Spanish River Region. This area is well known for great Walleye fishing. The Spanish River with it's fertile waters is a perfect habitat to grow big Walleye. Their walleyes don't disappear into the deep during the summer like a lot of lakes. Their guests catch good size Walleyes all summer. They also have outstanding fishing for Smallmouth Bass, Northern Pike and Lake Trout.

Bear Lake Wilderness Camp is located within the boundaries of Killarney Wilderness Park. They have outstanding fishing for Walleye. Walleye can be found in great numbers and in big sizes. Bear Lake is a shallow weedy lake so the Walleye fishing is awesome all summer long. The Walleyes don't take off into deep water in the late summer and fall like many other lakes. They have lakefront housekeeping cabins. They also offer outstanding fishing for Northern Pike, Largemouth Bass, Smallmouth Bass, Lake Trout and Brook Trout.

Auld Reekie Lodge & Outfitters is located 3 hours north of North Bay near the town of Gowganda and located on Gowganda Lake. Giant Trophy Walleyes is their claim to fame. There is a string of lakes starting with Gowganda Lake and this string heads down through Lady Evelyn-Smoothwater Provincial Park and down all the way to Cedar Lake in Algonquin Park, which is the headwater for the Petawawa River. In these lakes the average size Walleye is 4 pounds with Walleyes in the 5 to 7 pound range being caught every day. The Walleye fishing in their main lake is quality, not quantity. You may only catch 10 to 15 Walleyes per day but your chances of catching a Walleye in the 8 to 13 pound range is outstanding. If you want quantity, they have boat caches on backcountry lakes where you can catch 100 Walleyes in a day. This is tons of fun but don't expect to catch any Walleyes over 5 pounds on these portage lakes, even though there have been 8 and 9 pounders. They have beautiful lakefront cottages along with a main lodge restaurant and British Pub style bar. They offer American Plan, European Plan and housekeeping plan.

Sunbeam Bungalows Resort is located in sheltered Callander Bay, on the southeast shore of Lake Nipissing, easy to reach by highway from Toronto in 3 to 3 1/2 hours. Callander Bay offers excellent walleye fishing and gives you shelter and safety in comparison to the rest of the lake. Walleye are plentiful in the 2-3 pound range, with larger walleye in the 4-5 pound range, with trophy catches over 10lbs. The bay has numerous shoals, rocky points, and weed beds where they like to hide- and we know where they are! Sunbeam Bungalows Resortis a family owned resort, open from the spring walleye season, through to the winter ice fishing season. Olive the Lake Lodge is a family cottage rental resort and Walleye fishing lodge located on the Marten River, which is between North Bay & Temagami. From camp you can fish many miles of the Marten River for tasty Walleyes. Good numbers of eating-size Walleyes are available with the occasional trophy Walleye over 10 pounds. There are also many other lakes in the area, which you can drive to with good Walleye fishing. Their clean lakeside cabins are warm and cozy and fully equipped for housekeeping.

South River Resort is located 3 hours north of Toronto and in the south-east corner of Lake Nipissing, which is one of Ontario's top Walleye fishing lakes. Walleye fishing is excellent. Walleye are common in the 1.5 to 3 pound range with many bigger trophy Walleye over 8 pounds being taken by our guests. We have clean and comfortable waterfront fishing cabins, which are well maintained and all have modern appliances. We also offer ice fishing for Walleye during the winter. We are a family owned camp with a very friendly and relaxing atmosphere. They also have outstanding fishing for Musky, Largemouth Bass, Smallmouth Bass and Northern Pike.

Walleyes are common in the 2 to 4 pound range with a few bigger ones in the 5 to 9-pound range being caught. They have beautiful clean lakeside cabins and their rates can't be beat. They also have outstanding fishing for Largemouth Bass, Smallmouth Bass, Musky & Northern Pike.

Wolseley Lodge is located on the famous French River, which is more like a chain or lakes with a few rapids. The river is well known for outstanding Walleye fishing. Every year guests catch Walleyes over 30 inches with lots of good eating size Walleyes. The French River is big and you need our knowledge to know where the Walleye hotspots are. Wolseley Lodge is both a housekeeping and a full service all-inclusive American Plan lodge with warm and cozy cottages and yummy home cooked meals. They are just a few hour's drive from the border.

Ellen Island Camp is located on an island in the north-end of the Famous Lady Evelyn Lake. Lady Evelyn Lake is well known for having the very best Walleye fishing in Northeastern Ontario yet receives very little Walleye fishing pressure because of its remote location. Not only will you catch high numbers of Walleyes, the average size Walleye is twice the size of most lakes farther north. Lady Evelyn lake is the top Walleye hotspot in north-eastern Ontario and has produced Walleyes up to 20 pounds. The new waterfront cottages are clean and roomy with a fully equipped kitchen for housekeeping and a 3-piece bath. Total comfort, excellent service and fantastic Walleye fishing is what Ellen Island Camp is all about.

Land O' Lakes Lodge is located north of Kingston and Belleville and west of Ottawa on the Frontinac Highlands and 15 minutes north of the village of Sharbot Lake and near Clarendon, Ontario. The lodge is located on Crotch Lake, which is the top inland Walleye fishing lake in all of Eastern Ontario. The average size Walleye is 20 inches. Because they have a slot size where all Walleyes need to be released over 19.5 inches; the lake has been transformed into a Mecca for trophy Walleye hunters. There are a lot of Walleyes between 25 and 30 inches being caught and released and the largest in recent years was 36 inches. They offer both American Plan cabins and Housekeeping Plan cottages. They have nice boats for rent. Crotch Lake also has awesome fishing for Northern Pike, Smallmouth Bass and Largemouth Bass and the bass can be caught in gigantic numbers. This is a very friendly family-run resort and their cottages are beautiful.

Red Cedar Lake Camp is located north of North Bay and west of Marten River on a big Walleye-stuffed lake most people drive by and donít even know is there. Their Walleye fishing is the best in the region with guests catching between 10 and 25 Walleyes per day. Their claim-to-fame is the size of their Walleyes. There are a high number of Walleyes in the 7 to 10 pound range and sometimes Walleyes much bigger are caught. They have 11 lakefront cottages that sleep between 2 and 11 people. They offer American Plan and Housekeeping Plan with delicious home cooked meals served in their main lodge. They have fishing for Northern Pike, Smallmouth Bass and Lake Trout on top of being the best Walleye lake in the area.

Vance's Resort is located at the mouth of the Spanish River and the North Channel, Lake Huron. They are south of Espanola Ontario. Vance's Resort has a great variety of excellent fishing. The Spanish River has Walleye Walleye fishing. At the mouth of the river heading into the north channel is where some monster Walleye roam. These Walleye like to stay close to the shallow weedy water in the north channel by the river mouth but also take advantage of all the food in Lake Huron so they grow to massive sizes. They offer housekeeping cottages and marina services. They also have great fishing for Musky, Northern Pike, Smallmouth Bass and can arrange charters out on the big lake for steelhead and salmon.

Murray Lake Cottages is located south of Missanabie and between Wawa and Chapleau, Ontario. They have outstanding Walleye fishing as Walleye are the dominant species in their lake. Not only can you catch trophies over 30 inches the numbers are there as well. Their guests enjoy catching 40 to 60 Walleyes per day on average and on really good days people have reported catching 100 Walleyes in a day. From Murray Lake you have boat access to McMurty Lake and Dog Lake for even more Walleye fishing opportunities. They also have boat caches on several remote backcountry portage lakes, which produce Walleye after Walleye. They have five lakefront housekeeping cabins that sleep between four and nine adults. They have two boat-to outpost camps on Loon Lake and Shikwamkwa Lake and both camps have fantastic Walleye and Northern Pike fishing. Their rates are the best in Ontario. They also have fishing for Northern Pike, Smallmouth Bass, Lake Trout, Brook Trout and Perch.

Paquette's Camp is located on Wagoon Lake, which is about 25 miles into the bush from the town of Chapleau Ontario. The have excellent fishing for Walleye. Actually, the whole reputation of the camp is well known for its great walleye fishing. The average size Walleye in their lake is 1.5 to 2 pounds. There are quite a few larger Walleye in the 5 to 10-pound range, which are caught and released throughout the summer. Their lake has various depths reaching all the way down to 50 feet in some places. Generally, you need some deeper water in a lake to produce the big 10-pound trophies.

Four Season Guiding Camp is a small and cozy family run outfitter on Big Pine Lake near Chapleau Ontario. Their personal service is just as good as their fantastic Walleye fishing. Cam's camp is the only camp on the lake and since it's such a small lake and too far away for local populations to bother with, you will feel you have the lake to yourself. Walleyes are available in great numbers as well as big trophy Walleye. They offer lakefront housekeeping cabins.

Lake Onaping Lodge & Northern Wilderness Outpost Camps is located on Lake Onaping, which has the best reputation for monster-size trophy Walleyes. In addition to big Walleye, smaller Walleyes in the 1 to 3-pound range can be caught in big numbers. This is big water and produces big fish. The northern part of the lake where the outpost camps are located is dotted with hundreds of islands and tons of Walleye hotspots. The lodge is located on the west shore and outpost cabins are located in various remote locations at the north-end of Lake Onaping. They also have great fishing for Northern Pike, Smallmouth Bass and the southern end of the lake has monster Lake Trout.

Flame Lake Lodge offers excellent Northern Ontario fishing for Walleye. They also have trails and waterways to other lakes for the more adventurous, including several trophy Walleye Lakes, all in an untouched wilderness setting. Accommodations include housekeeping cabin or American Plan in the main lodge. They also have great fishing for Northern Pike and Whitefish. There are also many Brook Trout streams in the Chapleau area that you can drive to.

Prairie Bee Outpost Camp is located on Prairie Bee Lake, which is located between Chapleau and Wawa, Ontario. They have great Walleye fishing. Guests can expect to catch between 20 and 40 Walleyes per day with really good days where you can catch well over 50 Walleyes. The Walleyes are most common in the 1 to 3 pound range but 10 pounders over 30 inches are available. At the far west end of the lake they have an extremely remote outpost camp. The main camp is located at the north-east end of the lake. Both camps are extremely remote boat-to camps. From the main camp you have access to Windermere Lake, which is one of the best Walleye lakes in Ontario.

Chapleau Lodge is located on spring-fed Borden Lake, which has excellent fishing for Walleye. Walleye can be found in good numbers and good sizes. There are also other lakes and rivers in the area that you can exlore with excellent Walleye. Chapleau lodge offers American Plan accommodations with fabulous cuisine in their dining room. They also have new housekeeping cabins, which are very private and away from the lodge.

Five Mile Lake Lodge & Outpost Camps is located on Five Mile Lake which is south of Chapleau, Ontario. They offer excellent fishing for Walleye. They are rated as 4 Star (****) accommodations with housekeeping cabins at the base lodge and outpost cabins on Goldie Lake. Five Mile Lake itself is known for its good Walleye fishing. Goldie Lake Outpost is known for its Northern Pike Fishing. There are also Smallmouth Bass and Lake Trout in the lake.

Happy Day Lodge is located on Windermere Lake, which is one of the best Walleye fishing lakes in the Chapleau area. Walleye fishing is excellent for both high numbers and trophy size. Walleyes are common in the two to five-pound range but there are plenty of trophies over tem pounds being caught and released. Actually, the Walleye fishing is so good at Happy Day Lodge that it is very hard to get a reservation because they are jam-packed with repeat guests. The lake is just swarming with Walleye. Happy Day Lodge is the only lodge on the lake. They have really nice lakeside cabins and boats and offer housekeeping accommodations.

Green Wilderness Lodge & Outpost Camp is located in Northern Ontario between Timmins & Gogama. They are located in the north arm of Mattagami Lake, which is well known for having great Walleye fishing. Walleyes are available in all sizes but are most common in the 2 to 4-pound range. Their lake has big rivers and many feeder streams, which produces great spawning grounds for Walleye thus keeping the population high. Giant trophy Walleyes over 10 pounds get caught and released on a regular basis. They have nice cottages and boat-to outpost camps both on Mattagai Lake and smaller inland lakes. They also offer day-trips to fly-in trophy Walleye lakes.
