What makes Windermere Lake unique and a top lake is the monster Northern Pike and massive Lake Trout. Fox's Den Lodge is located on the famous Dog Lake, which is considered one of the top Walleye and Lake Trout lakes in Ontario and also boasts outstanding Northern Pike, Perch and Smallmouth Bass fishing. Dog Lake is fed by the Lochalsh River and the Dog River and is the headwaters for the Michipicoten River. The lake is constantly supplied with fresh nutrient water and is literally a game-fish factory. Walleyes are plentiful and are available in all sizes including 10lbs+ trophies. Lake Trout are common in the 5 to 15lbs range but grow to monster sizes with 30lbs+ being caught. Northern Pike are common in the 5 to 15 pound range with 20lbs trophies being caught and released throughout the spring, summer and fall. 3 and 4lbs Smallmouth Bass are common and found all along the shore and overtop of shoals.
